Born in 2014 thanks to a public funding of the Province of Brindisi for the creation of new start-ups in the digital field and new technologies. The Study Centre’s name and aim were inspired by an anecdote from the life of Demosthenes, an Athenian orator and politician. He suffered from a serious speech impediment: he stuttered. Demosthenes was so dejected that he began to think about abandoning his vocation due to his limit. But one day he was advised to put some pebbles under his tongue and recite aloud for hours. The hard training worked and he began one of the greatest orators of all times. Our institution gets inspiration from this anecdote: we would like to offer the people we meet the help and tools they need to overcome their limitations, develop their talents and follow their original vocation. In one expression, what we aim to do is PROMOTING HUMAN FLOURISHING. Demostene in particular : Promote the development of new technologies and spur youngsters and adults to improve their digital skills through educational quality training at a local, national and European level in order to enhance their career prospects and encourage entrepreneurial aptitude.
